I--as many of you--began my love of birds with a parakeet when I was young, which soon led to cockatiels. Then, after I married and had a son, he was presented with a Yellow Nape Amazon at the ripe old age of 6 or 7 (that was 30 years ago.) As any mom can tell you, the Amazon turned out to be my bird. So, my life with birds was set in motion and hasn’t stopped yet!

For a few years, I bred and hand raised parrots at home, which lead to a double booth at a local flea market. Now, that was REALLY for the birds! Too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter for the birds and me, too. My husband and I prayed about the situation, and we asked for our church family to join us in agreement in our prayer requests. Soon, our present location at Tiger Plaza, in Gulf Breeze became available. We were very happy in our small (1500 sq ft) shop for quite a while.

With all the birds, cages, toys, foods, etc needed to operate successfully, we soon became overcrowded. At the end of our second year, our landlord came to us with an offer we couldn’t refuse! We expanded into the shop space next door; and our shop doubled in size to 3,000 sq ft.
